A lovely piece of Lotus Pottery tableware made by Michael and Elizabeth Skipworth. The small jug and integral saucer is glazed with a dark moss green, glossy glaze, decorated with a hand-painted flower, known as 'petal on sage'.
Michael and Elizabeth Skipworth met at Leeds College of Art, and there they formed Loversal Pottery. They moved to Stoke Gabriel in Devon, where they established a new pottery in 1958 and chose the name of Lotus Pottery. The pottery produced a wide range of products, but finally closed in the 1990s.
