Ynysmeudwy Pottery 'Bluebells' cream and lustre jug c1850-1860
Creamware Victorian jug with relief design of bluebells (a pattern referred to by some as 'harebells') hand-painted with pink lustre glaze decoration. Made at the Ynysmeudwy Pottery, near Pontardawe, north east of Swansea, which produced domestic earthenware and architectural ceramics from about 1845 to 1875. This relatively short-lived pottery was located on the Swansea Canal at Ynysmeudwy.
This jug has a few cracks and flaws from when it was made over 150 years ago, these add to its charm and is typical of this type of earthenware.
