Tremar Pottery tot cup or match pot
A small pottery cup made by Tremar Pottery, Cornwall, perfect for a tot of whisky or a shot of rum, but equally useful as a pot for matches to light your candles! Decorated with a stamped, repeating, geometric pattern, and glazed in a matt finish. The 'Tremar, UK' mark is impressed into the unglazed base. (Matches not included)
This pattern may have been designed by potter, Louis Hudson, whilst he worked at Tremar, and it appeared on other pieces, including coffee mugs, and dishes.
Similarly decorated pieces were also produced by Broadstairs Pottery in Kent, during the same period.
Tremar Pottery, Liskeard, Cornwall (1962-1983) was started by Roger and Doreen Birkett, who ran it up until 1980 (it closed three years later). Most of their pieces have a distinct style of decoration and smooth matt glaze, but they also produced very collectable, small figures of animals and people.
