Oil on canvas of Pamphill Manor, Wimborne
Painting of Pamphill Manor, Wimborne, Dorset, a grade II* listed manor house dating, in parts, from the 16th century, which formed part of the Kingston Lacy estate, historically owned by the Bankes family and bequeathed to the National Trust in the 1980s.
The painting was probably executed in the early- to mid-20th century and is in a broad oak frame. The house is dominated by the Dutch gable probably added in the 17th century. The house was the birthplace of Charles Vere Wintour, the journalist at, and later editor of The Evening Standard, from the 1950s to the mid-1970s, who was father of Anna Wintour of Vogue and Patrick Wintour of The Guardian.
