The trailed slipware is in the 17th century style, epitomised by the work of Thomas Toft of Staffordshire, and Garland has used to write 'CHEDWORTH DG 1979' as well as patterns. Garland is still working in Gloucestershire where he first established himself as a potter in the mid-1970s.
There is a very small chip to the glaze on the rim, however, this does not detract from the overall appeal or appearance of this striking handmade jug.
