A lovely globe-bottle shaped lampbase hand-decorated with dragonflies, from Yeo Pottery, Clevedon, Somerset with hole for flex in the side near the base.

A richly glazed bottle-shaped lampbase, decorated in slip clay with dragonflies and foliage in cream, orange, white, pale blue and green, on glossy dark brown background.  The base has an incised mark on base 'Yeo' but with circular sticky label covering it ' "Yeo" Pottery, Clevedon, Somerset, Hand thrown and decorated" 

  • Made by William Charles (Bill) Janes, 1914-1988, Yeo Pottery, Newhouse Cottage, Moor Lane, Clevedon, Somerset.  Bill Janes began his own pottery at his home having worked at the nearby Fishley Holland pottery in Clevedon until it closed in 1977.  He began his pottery career when he joined Fishley Holland in 1946 and his Yeo Pottery pieces have a similar feel to much of the Fishley Holland output.
