Vintage 1958 Bossons wall-mounted figurine of girl with tambourine
W. H. Bossons Company was founded in Congleton, Cheshire in 1946 and started producing its first chalkware character figures in 1958 under the direction of the company owner, W. Ray Bossons. They produced extensive ranges of scenes, figures from Dickens and Shakespeare, as well as more 'exotic' figures such as this piece. The company finally closed in 1996.
Like many chalkware figures of this era, this pieces has suffered some damage where chips in the paintwork have revealed the white chalk below. We have carefully hand-coloured these to lessen the impact on the piece overall, but buyers should be aware that there are some minor chips, including on the woman's nose, which have been re-tinted.
