Kosta Boda medium Snowball votive candle holder
Mid-size 'Snowball' votive candle holder made by Kosta Boda (Sweden), in lovely condition and with original plastic label still attached. Designed by Ann Wärff in 1973 for Kosta Boda and made in lead crystal in Slovenia. The candleholder is a suitable size for a tealight or votive candle.. These were a popular design and came in a variety of sizes.
Ann Wärff (born 1937) was born and trained in Germany, before moving to Sweden in 1960. She worked for both Pukeberg and Kosta Boda as a glass designer in Sweden in the 1960s and since the 1970s has had her own studio, working between Gotland, Sweden and Berlin, Germany. She has been a professor of design in Hamburg and a guest teacher in the USA for many decades and in 1985, following changes in her personal life, she changed her name to Ann Wolff, by which she is professionally known today. Her work is held by museums and collections around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
