Pair of Wedgwood Susie Cooper 'Cornpoppy' coffee cups and saucers
A pair of stylish 1970s Wedgwood coffee 'can' cups and saucers made of white bone china in the 'Cornpoppy' pattern. Designed by the talented and popular Susie Cooper, they are decorated with a printed design of a corn poppy in red and olive green, which wraps around one side of the cup and the matching saucer.
Already a successful ceramics painter and designer, the Susie Cooper Pottery was established by Susie and her brother-in-law, Albert "Jack" Beeson, in 1929. Whilst very successful, the company merged with Wedgwood in 1966, although the pottery remained largely in control of its own designs and production.
