Vintage teal and orange Empoli glass jug
A striking example of the marbled glass jugs/pitchers made in the Empoli region, near Florence, Italy. In teal, red-orange and white glass with an applied twisted, clear glass handle and inner white casing, it is a vibrant statement piece. Although it has lost its original paper label, it is almost certainly by the Vetreria Barbieri (VB) glassworks.
Vetreria Barbieri (VB), was a factory in the town of Empoli, Italy, that produced glassware during the 1970s and early 1980s. They produced numerous shapes and sizes of vases and jugs in opaline glass, often referred to as "Opaline Florence". They marbled together different colours of glass in the same distinctive style as this jug.
