  • (Edward) Norman Wade (1922-2004) trained as a graphic designer. After meeting his wife, Moira, they lived in Gosforth, Newcastle, before moving to Low Etherley in Bishop Auckland. In the 1970s Moira ran a shop selling Norman's  work in Saddler Street, Durham.  Norman developed a distinctive style using screen printing techniques producing images of buildings and landscapes across the north of England, but particularly images of Durham Cathedral. In 1980 they closed the shop and moved to Spain, later moving back to the UK and settling in Cornhill-on-Tweed close to the Scottish border. After his death in 2004, his wife Moira donated his remaining artworks to Durham Cathedral to be sold to raise funds for the building's upkeep.
